SHBT / Commerce / Medusa / SEO

A solo founder. A stronger storefront. Twice the sales.

Moving a clothing brand from WordPress to a custom Medusa shopping experience, with SEO built into the brief.

SHBT public website

A brand with a point of view

SHBT, short for Short Hair Big Teeth, is a solo-founder clothing brand. Its public storefront brings together oversized shirts, tops, dresses and tunics, with styling content that helps customers imagine how to wear them. The founder had already started selling online through WordPress. Our brief was to build a custom shopping website and improve its search foundations.

For a small fashion business, the storefront carries a large share of the customer conversation. Shoppers need to understand the clothes, find the right category and feel ready to buy. The website also has to work for the person running the business. A successful rebuild therefore needs to serve both sides of the transaction.

From WordPress to custom commerce

Nick Creatives rebuilt SHBT’s shopping website on Medusa. The change moved the brand from its existing WordPress setup to a commerce platform with a custom storefront. That gave the project a clearer separation between the shopping experience and the commerce capabilities behind it.

Medusa provides the commerce foundation, while the storefront can be shaped around the brand. Choosing custom development makes sense when that control is useful enough to justify owning and maintaining the implementation. It is a product decision, rather than a reason to rebuild every small store.

Make discovery part of the shopping experience

SEO optimisation was part of the engagement. The current site gives shoppers category routes for shirts, tops, dresses and tunics, alongside editorial articles about styling and streetwear. Those two kinds of content serve different needs: a customer ready to shop and someone still deciding what suits them.

The visible experience also includes customer-account access, returns information and Indian payment options through Razorpay. Together, those details make the site a working commerce destination. They help shoppers find the practical information they need alongside the clothing.

The result: sales doubled in three months

Within three months of the rebuild, SHBT doubled its sales, according to the result reported by Nick Creatives. For a solo-founder business, that is a meaningful commercial milestone following the move to a custom storefront.

The practical lesson is to judge a commerce rebuild against the business it serves. A more deliberate storefront and stronger search foundations can support growth, but the story should stay tied to real sales data. Marketing, inventory, offers and product demand remain part of the picture.

What this means for your business

If your store has outgrown its current setup, start with the friction: what is hard for customers, what is hard for your team, and what changes are blocked? Those answers should guide whether to improve the existing store or commission a custom one.

A good next brief starts with a specific obstacle and a business measure that matters. Bring us the part of your store that is holding you back, and we can help decide whether it calls for a focused improvement or a custom build.

The 2× sales result over three months was supplied by Nick Creatives. It is not an independently audited attribution study; sales can also be influenced by marketing, product releases and seasonality.
